Mixing metal finishes can provide a curated look to your home. Here are guidelines you should follow to achieve this look from your favorite Houston interior designer!
1. SELECT YOUR METAL FINISHES
Choose 2-3 metal finishes that compliment each other. Warm tones can be found in polished nickel, gold, and antique brass while chrome, brushed satin nickel and pewter skew towards the cool side. Black metal finishes will go with all of the above! Also consider if you want the metal to have a brushed or matte look or a polished glossy look.
2. DETERMINE WHICH FINISH WILL BE USED IN A DOMINANT FASHION AND WHICH WILL BE AN ACCENT
Choosing one finish as the major player in the room will be more aesthetically pleasing to the eye and guide you in your lighting, plumbing and cabinet hardware selections
3. PLACE YOUR METALS THROUGHOUT THE ROOM
Whether it is your kitchen or master bathroom, organize metal finishes by sight line. For example, in your kitchen contrast the finish of your island pendants with your cabinet hardware. In your master bathroom contrast the finish of your faucet with the finish of your mirror.
